The chassis design was structurally improved through computational designs, element analysis and large-scale dynamic/static tests. This allows it to haul 363 tons or 400 short tons, the highest reliability in the market.

KOMTRAX Plus 2™ monitoring system

The KOMTRAX Plus 2 system allows the machine to monitor the status of main components, remotely evaluating their condition and operation. Electric drive system

The electric drive system, in comparison with the mechanical drive, allows for an efficient and cleaner movement. By excluding almost all mechanical structure elements, this system reduces scheduled maintenance intervals and corrective repairs, and, therefore, reduces operating and maintenance costs. Electric dynamic retarder

This function provides a resistance of 6,000 hp, with an advanced braking capacity for mining applications with continuous downhills, and steep and closed curves. This feature uses electricity to stop the equipment, which is dissipated through a grid and transforming it into heat. The use of electricity instead of mechanical energy, means the equipment uses a cleaner, more efficient energy which reduces the operation, maintenance and availability costs of the equipment. Simple and reliable hydraulic system

The hydraulic system consists of a simple, tested and reliable design. The system uses a single tank, providing a common source of fluid for steering, braking and hoisting. In-line replaceable filtration elements provide protection against hydraulic system contamination, making the system easier to service. To keep downtime to a minimum, Komatsu developed a sub-frame pump module that can be removed and replaced as a single unit. This reduces replacement time and allows easy access to the hydraulic pump module.
