The chassis design was structurally improved through computational designs, element analysis and large-scale dynamic/static tests. This allows it to haul 221 tons or 244 short tons, the highest reliability in the market.

The 830E-1AC electric truck has a SDA16V160 Komatsu diesel engine with 16 cylinders and a net flywheel power of 1,761 [kW] 2,360 [hp], providing an excellent productivity. It is also Tier 2 emission regulations certified.



KOMTRAX Plus™ Monitoring System

The KOMTRAX Plus system allows the machine to monitor the status of main components, remotely evaluating their condition and operation. This system was designed to reduce repair costs and to keep an ideal availability by preventing unscheduled downtimes.

In summary, the clearest advantage of this system is that, by using it appropriately, a proper operation and maintenance can be achieved, maximizing its performance and extending its service life.

Electric drive system

The electric drive system, in comparison with the mechanical drive, allows for an efficient and cleaner movement. By excluding almost all mechanical structure elements, this system reduces scheduled maintenance intervals and corrective repairs, and, therefore, reduces operating and maintenance costs. The latter also means an important rise in the availability rate and in the equipment’s production. Its drive curves show an operating efficiency beyond comparison.

Electric dynamic retarder

This function provides a resistance of 4,000 hp, with an advanced braking capacity for mining applications with continuous downhills, and steep and closed curves. This feature uses electricity to stop the equipment, which is dissipated through a grid and transforming it into heat. The use of electricity instead of mechanical energy, means the equipment uses a cleaner, more efficient energy which reduces the operation, maintenance and availability costs of the equipment. The electric dynamic retarder improves productivity and the operator’s reliability, while eliminating excessive mechanical braking efforts (less wear and more energy efficiency).
