Construction, utility and mining equipment

Sales

During FY2023 Komatsu Latin America worked hard on the introduction of equipment, such as, for example, the PC360-8M2 hydraulic excavator and the 980E-5SE electric truck, along with other associated commercial activities to boost the company’s growth in the region.

Many distributors were enthusiastic about conducting activities with customers. In this context, the visits made to factories by distributors from Guyana, Guatemala, Bolivia, Peru and Mexico, which were carried out using the advantages of the Joint Working Model benefits program, stand out, among others. In the mining sector, there were also visits with customers to Komatsu factories and testing grounds, always with the participation of the distributor in charge, as in the cases of Antamina (Peru – KMMP) and Lundin Josemaría (Argentina – Isemar).

In addition, a variety of activities were carried out in the region, related to PC200-10M0 CE and PC360-8M2 Field Days, Open Houses, breakfasts, technology workshops with mining customers and participation in trade fairs.

Another important milestone was the inauguration of KMMP Amazonía, a company created by Komatsu Mitsui Peru, to serve the Amazon market and thus continue strengthening territorial coverage.

New challenges for FY24 Construction

This new fiscal year poses new challenges. For this reason, new solutions are constantly being sought with a cross-cutting and collaborative approach between the distributor network and Komatsu Latin America.

We will focus on boosting the growth of the market share by creating a dedicated committee. The participation of the H/E PC200-10M0 CE, now available from Panama Stock Operation (PSO), will also be strengthened.

For this, having a trained sales force is vital, so KHSA has organized a regional training for equipment salespeople entitled Komatsu Sales Training (KST), which will be held in August 2024 in the city of Lima, Peru.

Factory visits are also expected to continue and allow for further strengthening of ties with customers.

«We on the sales team want to thank the distributor network for their commitment and deployment during FY2023 and invite them for FY2024 to continue developing Komatsu’s business and presence in the region, advancing together in the progress of the strategies that will be implemented to boost the growth of market share, along with continuing to get closer to our customers through factory visits and related activities.»

«Thanks to the launch of the PC200-10M0 CE through a Field Day, we were able to connect with customers in the sector and generate leads for future business due to the features shown. Carrying out this type of activity is the best way to connect with customers and demonstrate the quality of our products.»

New challenges for FY24 Mining

In the mining sector, Komatsu Latin America has set itself several challenges, such as consolidating the position of the 980E-5 truck in its standard and SE versions. It has also proposed to expand the ancillary equipment business through an action plan focused on ensuring the performance of the current fleets and at the same time capturing key business.

On the other hand, it has proposed to develop the mid-size mining, quarrying and mining contractor businesses with a strategic plan for the short and medium term, in addition to leveraging technological solutions, advancing in the implementation of autonomy and trolleys, and developing digitalization solutions.

«We are very pleased with the results achieved in FY2023 in both construction and mining equipment, but at the same time we are attentive to future challenges. During FY2024 we will work on several strategic projects called SIA projects, which include activities that, in many cases, are not a priority today, but their execution will make a big difference in our future performance. I would like to highlight as a relevant example, the SIA project that is in charge of laying the groundwork for the new forestry equipment business, which we consider of great impact for the growth of our sales.»
