Assembly of 980E-5SE truck in Peru

The legacy of Komatsu Mitsui’s female technicians

Mining

A team of women from different mining operations in Peru and from Komatsu-Mitsui’s Assembly area joined forces to carry out the first step of this pioneering project.

Milestone in assembly

For the first time, a Komatsu 980E-5SE model, with a load capacity of 400 tons, has been assembled entirely by women in Peru. This achievement marks a milestone in the history of Komatsu-Mitsui, a company that promotes gender equality and equal opportunities in the mining sector.

The project, made up of more than ten technicians selected from different mining operations located in the country, belongs to the “Talento warmi, fuerza que inspira” program, which Komatsu-Mitsui launched in 2021 to increase the participation of women in jobs in mining operations and which today has more than 200 technicians working in different projects.

This achievement is a reflection of what the company constantly promotes through different initiatives to promote female talent in the sector. “We are extremely proud to promote this project that not only demonstrates the technical excellence of our female workers, but also emphasizes the importance of gender diversity in the mining industry”.
