Komatsu Latin America develops initiatives to promote and position equipment in the region, driving the market together with distributors. For example, in the construction sector we are working on the consolidation of equipment recently launched in the market, such as the well-known PC200-10M0 CE, which this year 2024 is available from Panama (OEM KSC) and with two H/E models launched in 2023 to strengthen the 28–40-ton segment. These are the PC300-8M2 and PC360/LC-8M2 excavators from KLTD/KDB.
In mining, we have worked with you, to develop a regional plan to position KLTD’s mining product line. The focus is on introducing and positioning equipment such as the GD955-7R/7E0 motor grader. Also, efforts are being made to strengthen Germany’s hydraulic shovels, such as through the ongoing improvement plan for the KGM shovel fleets at Mexicana del Cobre and Barrick Peñasquito, which includes identifying and resolving operational issues, as well as optimizing the spare parts supply chain.
You will find information about the recent acquisition of GHH Group GmbH (GHH), a manufacturer of subway mining, tunneling and specialized civil engineering equipment based in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Notably, GHH’s range of equipment is focused on LHD loaders and articulated trucks and will enhance Komatsu’s growing subway mining product offering. This includes spare parts and technical assistance throughout the useful life of the machines.
To strengthen our distribution network by ensuring consistency and continually improving its capabilities, we are constantly working on safety and environmental issues. On this occasion we will see the reduction in lost time accident rates throughout the region as a result of implementing a preventive model; the improvement, for example, in infrastructure and safety of its employees by Grupo ConstruMarket Guatemala or Genequip with the certification of the “Heath, Safety, Security and Environment Management System Mentorship Program”.
On the other hand, as support for the expansion of the automation, removal and equipment monitoring business in all markets, we were present in several relevant activities, such as the participation of the Aftermarket area in the Smart Construction training held in Cartersville, USA; with the participation of Komatsu construction professional experts and distributors, such as: Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador. And finally, the Marketing and External Communications area participated in the annual meeting of the Komatsu Global Branding Committee, where strategic guidelines are continuously defined to position ourselves in the global market.
For all of the above and more, I invite you to read the new 34th issue of Marketing News and to continue working together.
