830E-1AC Trucks Grupo México

The 830E-1AC truck model has been continuously quoted in Komatsu Mexico (KMEX) for several years and had not had positive results so far. However, it has always been present in the market and has incessantly emphasized the added value that our equipment has.

Award

During fiscal year 2023, KMEX, following up on bids and quotations together with the teamwork of all the areas involved, through opportunity management and a robust service offer, submitted a bid and obtained the award of 2 830E-1AC trucks for Mexicana del Cobre (Nacozari) of Grupo Mexico, marking a milestone in sales. These trucks are presently being manufactured and are expected to be delivered in May and June of 2024.

Global knowledge transfer

Component remanufacturing in Latin America is being boosted by collaboration bet ween member countries, demonstrating that best practices and technology can be shared in all directions.

The Reman Center of Excellence held a workshop focused on the transfer of tools to instill a collaborative culture in the region. In this instance, the members of the Reman CoE were able to share experiences and best practices, in order to enhance the development of knowledge and remanufacturing excellence globally.

Latam Participation

This workshop was attended by 6 Latin American countries and, in addition, the first meeting of the component repair centers belonging to the Komatsu Mining Global Support Group (KMGS) was held, with the participation of 4 countries outside Latin America.

Carbon footprint management at third-party distributors

Until 2021, carbon footprint management was implemented in Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Peru and Chile. During fiscal year 2022, carbon management was extended, for the first time, to third party distributors, where our distributors Agromec (Costa Rica) and Puntomaq (Bolivia) took the initial step by performing their first carbon footprint calculation, using the international GHG Protocol quantification standard. This allowed them to map their sources of greenhouse gas emissions and identify the most significant ones, in order to prioritize them in the reduction plan.

Photovoltaic plant

In this context, projects developed during 2023 by our distributor Puntomaq are worth mentioning. Puntomaq implemented a 48 m2 photovoltaic solar farm at its facilities in La Paz, Bolivia, which has enabled it to reduce its carbon footprint associated with electricity consumption by up to 85%, in addition to having scheduled an efficient driving certification course for all its truck drivers.

Colombia Logging Line

As part of the commercial expansion in equipment, Komatsu Colombia officially began marketing logging products in the country as of November 1, 2023. However, prior to this start, 3 PC160LLL excavators with grapple were in the process of being sold to customer Smurfit Kappa Colombia for its operation in Cali, called Cartón Colombia, which was closed before the official sale.

Customer visit to the head office

Recently, executives from Komatsu Latin America together with representatives from Komatsu Mexico visited Komatsu Japan’s facilities in the company of third party distributors such as Puntomaq from Bolivia, Genequip from Guyana, CMarket Guatemala together with a client from regional accounts in Central America, in addition to the strategic clients of each distributor, with the aim of strengthening the relationship, soaking them in Japanese culture, and learning first hand about the factories in Ibaraki and Osaka, where some models of Komatsu equipment are produced, in addition to the Technology Center in Chiba.

Support through training

This project began when ConstruMarket, Komatsu’s distributor in Nicaragua, was awarded the sale of 15 HM400-3E0 articulated machines for Calibre Mining with its Borozi Este site, located in Riscos de Oro, on the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua, which was developed during fiscal year 2023.

Several training alternatives were generated to comply with Calibre Mining’s agreements to support and promote the communities and their environment. Therefore, 3 stages were carried out by Komatsu instructors: Wilson Torres, Cristian Zarate and Fredy Flores.
