Expanding the product range

Sale of remanufactured HD785CMR-7 trucks

Used Equipment

Komatsu Latin America delivers another option to the 100-ton truck market, focusing on providing contractors and mining sites with competitively priced semi-new equipment.

A bit of history

2020

During fiscal year 2020, Indonesia, one of Komatsu’s three mechanical truck manufacturing countries, initiated the project to remanufacture HD785CMR-7 trucks, conceiving this process as “Certificate Machine Rebuild” (KMCR).

2022

In July 2022 Komatsu Indonesia released the first 4 units which Komatsu started offering in Argentina, Mexico and Colombia in an initial stage.

March 2023

In March 2023, thanks to the teamwork between Komatsu Latin America and Komatsu Mexico, an agreement was reached to sell 4 units to customer Imelda Morfin Ltd, a mining contractor with operations in the Peña Colorada mine.

November 2023

In November 2023, Komatsu Chile reached an agreement for the sale of 3 units to Minera Algorta Norte, which will be shipped during February 2024.

Strategy and purpose

Komatsu is always looking for alternatives to the most popular models in the región so that our distributors can broaden their product range and thus compete against all competing brands, especially those focused on price. In the case of remanufactured trucks, we expect a great reception in the market, since the truck has new components from the factory (see box above).

The strategy is to introduce them to those customers who are about to become
mining contractors and in sites where the transport cycles do not demand a high
load factor on the engine, in order to validate the capabilities in a step-by-step process and ensure that the trucks can operate in any type of site in the region.

Experience

“The región is a market with a high demand for these machines, which is why the introduction of the truck, which will be operating in Mexico and Chile in the coming months, is very relevant. With the target price we have defined, we will be able to obtain new business against the competition.”
