Komatsu presents the PC9000-12: A Milestone in Global Mining Innovation​

With the launch of the PC9000-12, the largest hydraulic excavator in Komatsu’s portfolio, the company sets a new standard in large-scale mining. And its first transport—from Germany to Canada—reflects that same ambition. 

An Unprecedented Logistical Challenge​ 

Transporting the first PC9000 involved coordinating a journey of over 14,000 kilometers, crossing Europe and North America, with the participation of Komatsu teams, dealers, and logistics partners in multiple countries.​ 

Each component—from main structures to specialized modules—was transported separately, in an operation carefully planned over years.​ 

“Every project is unique. Every machine, every destination, and every customer presents different challenges,” explains Carolina Ribeiro, Logistics Coordinator at SMS Equipment. 

The sheer size of the equipment—a 900-ton machine—required designing specific solutions for transport, handling, and assembly, setting a new standard for future operations.

PC9000-12: Designed for the Mining of the Future​ 

The PC9000-12 represents the new generation of hydraulic mining excavators, designed to maximize productivity, efficiency, and performance in large-scale operations.​ 

Available in front shovel and backhoe configurations, it offers capacities of up to 49 m³, and diesel or electric engine options, adapting to the needs of each operation.​
